is a 6'2" Chicago-native, half-Mexican, half-Irish, peanut-allergic, caffeine-addicted freelance journalist living in Columbia, Missouri.
His friends call him Carlos, and he writes for a handful of national titles, including Men's Health, Outside, Bicycling, Tonic, and more.
He's a master's candidate at the Missouri School of Journalism, and a former intern at Men's Health, the world's largest men's magazine, and 5280, the Denver magazine. He started at the Columbia Missourian—a student-staffed city newspaper in Columbia, Missouri—and was most recently the features editor at Vox Magazine, an award-winning student magazine at MU. He specializes in health and fitness content, and he's done 3,000-word features on plastic surgery, 5,000-word features on amphetamine abuse and 135-character tweets on what he ate that day.
When he's not writing or reporting, he's probably out for a run or a bike ride, or kicking back on the porch with a microbrew and a 3-year-old black lab named Brick.
He's glad you spent these two minutes getting to know him, and he hopes you'll reach out and get to know him a bit more. He promises he doesn't bite.
